If you live in a downtown urban area where there are lots of broadcast towers (in Portland, Oregon for example…) you can get over 40 channels with a diminutive Mohu Leaf Metro. If you live in the suburbs, you may want a Leaf 30 for extending your reception range. In rural areas where broadcast towers may be up to 50 miles away the Leaf 50 or Curve 50 are the perfect choice. For those who don’t mind a bit more installation and climbing into the attic, the Sky 60 is worth a look.
Mohu HDTV antennas are simple to setup and use, and give me all the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW, PBS) in high definition, plus many other great channels. I’ve been using two Leaf 50’s (formerly the Leaf Ultimate) and a Curve 50 for several years now, and save $100 a month not paying for cable TV. I can’t say enough good things about this company, it’s customer service or its products.
Cut the cord today and take back the power to enjoy TV on your terms – not those of the cable or satellite TV company.
HULU has partnered with Showtime to offer commercial-free Showtime via their streaming service. Free for 1 Month adding Showtime will be an additional $8.99 a month thereafter. This is a great opportunity to begin watching the new seasons of Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex which both begin July 12th.
If you’re not a HULU subscriber, get your free trial subscription without Showtime, and then if you decide to subscribe enable the 1 month free trial for Showtime as a premium add-on which gives you both free trials one after the other.
Hulu has an incredible array of programs including current TV; something Netflix and Amazon don’t do, documentaries and original series, with premium content from Showtime now available. Hulu is an inexpensive way to gain quality streaming content at home or on the go on your tablet, smartphone, laptop or streaming media box.
A link on each product’s page allows Amazon shoppers to go to the Sling site to purchase a 3 month subscription to Sling TV service; prepaying for the service, which unfortunately is not refundable if you don’t like it.
Once you pay for your subscription after setting up a Sling TV account, you get a unique Amazon code to use on the Amazon site at checkout. If you put an Amazon Fire TV Stick in your cart and enter your code, you get the Fire TV Stick for FREE!
You also have the option to get the Amazon Fire TV at 50% Off with the same promo code, but you can’t buy more than one device.
Soon after Amazon’s Sling TV deals showed up this morning, Roku got into the game. Roku offered similar deals on the Sling TV site, but not on their own website at the time of this writing.
Links to both the deals pictured can be found at the bottom of the Sling website’s homepage. You can also find links to the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick deals on the Amazon website.
After using Sling TV apps on both my Amazon Fire TV Stick and Roku 3 today, I can say I’m impressed with the service.
While the channels aren’t all my favorites (I’d love to see Bravo and FX join the mix) and it would be fantastic if at some point we could choose our own channels individually – say a basic package with a choice of 10 channels from say 100 basic offerings – it’s still a nice package for live TV that’s not obtained via an over-the-air HDTV antenna.
Cord cutting affords you the freedom of choice. Today, I choose Sling TV with a Mohu HDTV antenna, and I’m happy and saving money. I may change my mind, but the beauty of it is that I’m not locked into a contract, so I can.
Sling TV deals will continue and the service will evolve.
