Do you buy refurbished products?
Real savings are possible in doing so, but many consumers feel that buying refurbished products is the equivalent of buying from a garage sale.
Many refurbished items come with manufacturer’s warranties that are the equivalent of the brand new products.
How do you know if a refurbished product is worth the risk?
That question isn’t a simple one to answer.
It truly depends upon the type of item you are purchasing, the refurbished warranty, the return policy and what you want out of the deal.
I’ve purchased new and refurbished electronics and tools. Only one time have I returned an item because it was cosmetically less than I’d hoped for, and at no time have I returned an item or had it fail prematurely.
I love refurbished because I love saving money!
Electronics are where you see the largest number of refurbished items, but tools and hardware are also a category where refurbs are more frequently offered.
Sometimes these items are listed as reconditioned, with the condition of the item ranked on a scale.
The rating scale may use words like Poor, Fair, Good and Excellent to describe the condition of the item for sale. The description may also state New in Box or Customer Returned Open Box.
As long as you read the product descriptions carefully, and purchase from reputable resources, buying refurbished products should be a treasure hunt for the savvy consumer.
Search any category on Amazon using ‘Refurbished’ as your keyword and discover all kinds of great deals!
